Worried about plastics in your body? Heating food in plastic, drinking bottled water, using cosmetics and handling receipts every day leaves a trace: substances that resemble your hormones and can disturb your thyroid, oestrogens, androgens and even your sleep. This test does not look for plastic particles, it measures the substances they release and your body clears through urine: bisphenols (BPA, BPF, BPS), phthalates (MEP, MnBP, MEHP, MEHHP, MEOHP), parabens (methyl and ethyl) and triclosan, with urine creatinine. It reflects your recent exposure, the way you live now. A result is only as good as the lab behind it, and we chose ours the way you'd choose anyone you let that close. - Endocrine disruptors (microplastics) in urine: Measures your exposure to chemicals that resemble our hormones and can lead to hormonal and neurological imbalances. Includes phthalates (MEP, MnBP, MEHP, MEHHP, MEOHP), parabens (methylparaben, ethylparaben), bisphenols (BPA, BPF, BPS) and triclosan, with urine creatinine.
Microplastics and endocrine disruptors urine test
Worried about plastics in your body? This test measures your exposure to the endocrine disruptors they release: bisphenols, phthalates, parabens and triclosan, from a single urine sample. It is how you go from a suspicion to a number of your own.
Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that resemble our hormones. Since hormones are the messengers of metabolism, fertility, the cycle, energy, weight, mood and the thyroid, a substance that imitates or blocks them can lead to hormonal and neurological imbalances. The test does not look for plastic particles: it measures the substances those plastics release and your body clears through urine.
Where the endocrine disruptors in this test come from
Exposure does not come from one big accident, it comes from routine. Heating food in a plastic container, drinking bottled water, eating packaged food, using cosmetics and toiletries, clothing, house dust and thermal paper receipts. Each habit leaves a small dose, and the sum of habits is what this test measures.
That is why the result reflects your recent exposure: what enters your body with the life you live now, not the one from years ago.
What the microplastics and endocrine disruptors test includes
The analysis measures eleven substances and urine creatinine:
- Bisphenols: BPA, BPF and BPS.
- Phthalates: MEP, MnBP, MEHP, MEHHP and MEOHP.
- Parabens: methylparaben and ethylparaben.
- Triclosan.
- Urine creatinine.
These are the substances the laboratory links to thyroid, oestrogenic, androgenic and steroid disruptors, and to neurological imbalances related to sleep.
Why these substances together
If plastics worry you, looking at one family alone leaves you blind to the others. Bisphenols, phthalates, parabens and triclosan each resemble your hormones in their own way, and all of them can be part of the same hormonal disturbance. This test measures them all in the same urine sample, so you see your full exposure, not a piece of it.
When this test is done
This test is done when you want to measure, with a number of your own, an exposure you have only sensed until now. Some signs often lead people to ask for it: persistent tiredness, difficulty losing weight, irregular periods, fertility problems, changes in skin and hair, a feeling of brain fog, thyroid problems or hormonal imbalances that keep coming back. They are non-specific signs, and the test does not say what causes them; it says whether endocrine disruptors are part of your picture.
It is also done with no symptom at all: because you drink bottled water every day, you work with receipts or packaging, or you simply want to know your level before changing habits and measuring again.
Getting this test with Diagnostic Station
You buy it online, receive your authorisation by email and go to our partner laboratory in Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid or Málaga. The sample is collected at the laboratory, in the flask made for this analysis, so that no ordinary container adds to the sample what we want to measure. The laboratory gives you access to view and download your result when it is ready, and the full price is visible before you pay. A result is only as good as the lab behind it, and we chose ours the way you'd choose anyone you let that close.
Frequently asked questions
What does the microplastics urine test include?
Bisphenols (BPA, BPF, BPS), phthalates (MEP, MnBP, MEHP, MEHHP, MEOHP), parabens (methylparaben, ethylparaben), triclosan and urine creatinine. Eleven substances and creatinine, in a single sample.
Does it measure plastic particles?
No. It measures the chemicals that plastics release and that act as endocrine disruptors. It is those substances, not the particles, that resemble your hormones and that your body clears through urine.
Can I bring the urine from home?
No. The sample is collected at the laboratory, in the flask made for this analysis. It is the first urine of the morning.
Does the result reflect my whole life or just the last few days?
It reflects your recent exposure. That is why it also works for comparing: you measure, change habits and measure again.
Can it be done during my period?
Better not. The laboratory asks to avoid collection during menstruation.
The results of this test are indicative and are not a diagnosis. Discuss them with your doctor.
